Thank you for uploading this one. I'm downloading it now. If this won't work on my OS, nothing else will. The japanese/chinese game runs perfectly on both XP and Vista, but somehow Geofront might have fucked this up for me since their patch itself won't work on my OS. I hope there's no other unsupported modified file in this pack, or else I'm gonna cry. I know the voices patch(dinput8.dll) doesn't support my OS either but I hope I can just disable it. I know how ungrateful I sound, but I'm just disappointed as fuck.
Did anyone else experience issues with the opening movie not playing? I tried both the original and evo versions. If I try to select the movie in the extras menu the game crashes entirely regardless of if I set the original or evo.
@ChaoXide GeoFront gone all the trouble to reproduce the official trailer of the game which was released back in 2010, so they actually could have given the same support to old OSs just as well, and probably should have, if they wanted to stick loyal to the original game. If I could have changed my hardware I would have changed it by now. Maybe you don't know this yet, but not every country is run by dollars and euros, kid.
@uyjulian now you know why I avoided talking about my OS unless a good reason.
PS: the translation doesn't work on my OS even if it's already patched(the game still loads in japanese). I suppose it has something to do with the ED_ZERO.GDF since that extension doesn't support my OS. This seems to be some kind of soft translation, so ED_ZERO.GDF or another file which my OS can't handle is supposed to detect and load the translation files, just like when you want to watch a movie with subtitles or something. I can only hope someone will add the support I need at some point, or expect GeoFront to sell their translation to XSEED, so maybe XSEED will give this game all the support it deserves, just like XSEED did to the whole Sora trilogy before(yes, the whole Sora trilogy works on old OSs). Both Zero no Kiseki and Ao no Kiseki originally supports XP and Vista.
@uyjulian that's not an option for me at the moment. If I upgrade my SO it will consume my hardware resources. That said, I don't have a good computer. If I had a good computer then I would agree with all you guys that I should have the best OS possible. But maybe it's time you realize not everyone can afford a good computer. And with the Dollar getting all crazy high because of the virus... yeah, it won't gonna happen for a long, long time. We're going through a historical rise on imports here in my country.
@uyjulian man, it's hard making you guys understand. I don't know if you got your computer from your parents, or if you just live in a first world country, or what else to make things to sound incredibly easy inside your heads. It's not about the OS being better, it's about my hardware being crap. If I install Win7 in my current computer I don't think it'll handle most of the games I use to play because of running out of resources like RAM. Also, I might find trouble to run old games for lack of support on Win7, since, again, my computer is crap so I mostly play old games(although every now and then I still manage to pick up something recent that will still run on it). But again, both japanese Zero no Kiseki and chinese Ao no Kiseki runs on both XP and Vista, and not only that but both games also runs smoothly on my computer. Just GeoFront's patch or patched files won't load at all(Zero no Kiseki remains japanese). You must think my computer is 5 years old. Or maybe 10. Think over, mate. Anyways, I wouldn't clear my storage only to re-install another SO for a single game, even less with so much uncertainty in play. I wasted a whole sunday trying to make the translated game to run, that's enough for me. I would rather come back to XP. Don't take me wrong, I'm not bitching. I only commented here to show my absolute disappointment with GeoFront's translation, I'm not trying to find or asking for solutions, because I know no one else can help me but GeoFront, by adding the support I need, although I know it won't gonna happen. If they sell their translation to XSEED I might have a chance though, since XSEED adds support to both XP and Vista in their games for GOG(Sora trilogy, Gurumin, Zwei 1 & 2, Xanadu Next, Ys series, Corpse Party series etc). I'm not asking for advice so probably you should just stop wasting your time with me.
@uyjulian
hey, thanks for uploading the game with both voice and BGM mod. i have a problem with evolution BGM, it sounds kinda looping and broken. i tried restarting the game yet the option changes back to Original. Any idea?
@kaiisen you make it sound like 2nd/3rd world countries are super poor (i'm from 3rd world country). i live in a place that has a minimum wage of 179$ per month that's pretty low compared to many countries here in south east asia. i honestly don't know how poor you are or what's even your problem, even a used less than 100$ laptop can run windows 10 just fine, let alone windows 7. my laptop from 2011 can run win 10 just fine and i beat sky trilogy, crossbell duology, and cold steel 1-2. your nonsense rant isn't really gonna change anything, it's f*cking 2020 mate. ppl are not gonna make an ancient win compatibility just because someone doesn't want to empty 10-16 gigs of hard drive space to install win 7. you make a simple problem sound like a fking end of the world. ppl've been waiting for this translations for years and you're here bitching about with your stupid problem. get a fking job and quit spouting nonsense.
@overdosingbliss I read once that you must disable dinput8.dll to get rid of voices, I guess. Just rename the file into something else, or delete it. Maybe you'll have to do the same with dsound.dll.
@kaiisen You can install Windows 7 without needing to move your files. Also it has less RAM usage than Windows Vista.
@overdosingbliss Evolution BGM looping failure is a known issue.
@overdosingbliss you're making my comment sound like it's the end of the world to yourself. It's no your obligation to get pissed off nor feel obliged to reply it. You seems to be less poor than me, can play more games than me, and yet you sound much more pissed than me, so I can't see your point.
@SonEnson joined Falcom discord, can't find what you meant. There's only two related pinned messages in #trais-from-zero-geofront channel, one by Ribose saying
""Evolution additions go in:
/data/talk/ - Voices (at9)
/data/bgm_evo/ - BGM (ogg)
/data/movie_evo/ - OP/ED (h264 encoding is fine)""
and another by uyjulian about where to get Geofront's patch.
May be you could post a link or upload needed files to zippy or mega or to somewhere else?
Can somebody explain me how to use evolution bgm? I downloaded files from the mega link above, but where do I need to unpack them?
Thanks for release btw!
@kaiisen Upgrade to Windows 7. No matter what excuses you got to say as a former Vista user myself of over 10 years it's time to upgrade to Windows 7 it's way better than Vista, Make a backup of Windows Vista if you're on OEM with the serial and prep to move.
I left a comment here to let you know what I did I ain't shitting you. https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1229084
The configuration regarding screen resolution, key bindings and all the rest keeps getting reset everytime I start the game. Any idea how can I solve it?
