Piyo-Piyo Productions presents: Dragon Quest - The Great Adventures of Dai Movie 2 - Disciple of Aban 3/22/20 https://anidb.net/anime/2093 https://www.otakubell.com/ Source: Laserdisc Everything PPP-Raw releases is from laserdisc source. At the time of ripping, no DVD, Bluray, or other digital souce is known to exist. Domesday Edition: This was captured using a Domesday Duplicator. You can read all about the Domeday Duplicator project at https://www.domesday86.com/?page_id=978. Project notes: Another one of my UK loaner discs. There are two other DQ:GAD movies. The first one was never reissued on home video for some reason. The other two movies were released on VHS and LD, but that’s it. The TV series has since been reissued digitally. Maybe the movies will follow at some point, but as of now? Not yet. It was a well-mastered disc. No jitter issues, very nice and clean. Unfiltered DVD conversion included, along with conventionally captured audio, as the Domesday software does not yet support CX Noise Reduction.

This and the way it was obtained is too great. I can't do anything but thank you for such a beautiful contribution :D PD. Seeing that this is already possible, I wish one day the same thing could be achieved with the dragon ball laserdisc movies
Just a heads up: Dragon Quest (anime and movies) is finally getting a Blu-ray release!! It will be released in july 2020. Let's hope they keep the original aspect ratio and don't ruin the image with filters! :)

@MrGoodGuy: Oh, cool! Well this was probably a grand waste of time on my part, then. Ah well, so it goes. Your source?
Here: https://fandompost.vbulletin.net/forum/anime-manga-discussions/jp-asian-blu-ray-dvd-and-streaming-industry-news/758220-dragon-quest-dai-no-daibouken-1991-bd-box But please, do not think your work was a waste of time! As I said, these companies have been ruining some of the greatest animes with DNR and cropping, so let's hope they don't ruin this release too. Anyway, it's cool to have it in both formats for archival purposes. I just recently found your uploads and I already think you are one of the most important uploaders/rippers on the internet. I'm not exagerating. There's only a few people doing these LD rips and I'm pretty sure you know how to do it properly. So, thank you very much for all your hard work! And please, keep it going.
Many thanks for this gem, had the VHS rip of both movies (2 & 3) for years, even hard-subbed in french... And finally can see how it did look on LD! Movie 3 was only released on VHS or does have LD as well? And just WTF at the Bluray-Box announcement of the series + the unreleased 1st movie from 1991, what a huge surprise, but as said, let's cross fingers and see if they don't ruin it with their filters, DNR or cropping... That's my only concern knowing previously Toei has made some "HD" releases(DBZ movies) and wasn't that good as I expected. But let's see before judging in advance. Thank you once again!
Not a complete waste of time, because the LaserDisc has music-only audio in the right channel on the PCM track, which I doubt would be included on the BD, and there's a chance the Japanese audio might be better quality than what the Blu-ray will have. And the VHS release of the TV series has better audio compared to the streaming versions for most episodes except the few earliest ones, I heard. We'll see if they'll use better audio for the Blu-ray release, but I wouldn't be too hopeful.

Interesting, that thing about the audio... didn't notice that myself. Too bad the audio is still off in ld-decode, though - no CX noise reduction yet. Still, might be worth a revisit if that ever gets fixed, and the Bluray doesn't have that track.
Unfortunately coming from Toei Animation, the Bluray Dragon Quest audios The Great Adventures of Dai, will not be the Original Broadcast audio. The broadcast audio quality is absurd. If you don't know what broadcast audio is, I recommend you check out this video.⤵ https://youtu.be/PTLBEzJQU9M
