Silly question but without being able to pause the game you can’t save/load or enter the menu right? I haven’t found a way to access the menu to save or load the game while playing (without a controller, that is)

When installing K-Lite, make sure to make it so LAV handles Windows Media codecs, and not the Microsoft decoder.

using x360ce works perfectly so I’m sure any other controller emulator would work

By extracting these files into the “windata” folder you can bring the start menu using the “delete” button and can save your progress using your keyboard. (taken from the discord which made the english patch )
