Does it have any improvement over this https://nyaa.iss.one/view/831686 from Sephirotic? I like those Placeboness of this release but dont know it i should switch to this instead of the Sephirotic on my HDD

@devilnevacry @leehwongxing This being a 10bits release it get a more precise color range, not sure if everyone can notice for this serie being so "old".

Sephirotic's release is better because of the color correcting he did to get rid of the color cast and contrast issues present in the BDs. The two things 2D4U's release has over Sephirotic's is the English dub (which has not aged well) and the OA versions of 21-24.

This torrent has higher video and audio quality compared to Sephirotic's release, plus it has the missing content that Sephirotic removed. This is an archival quality release.

Why is there a 720p vid?

I'm unsure why there is a 720p video, but it's not a mistake. It's what 2D4U used for that episode.

First of all I’m deeply thankful to the work RX has done with Eva, he helped me tweak Avisynth settings back in the day when I was doing my filtering for episode 16. He has done a great job with Eva and other classic sci fi animes of the 80’s and 90s. HOWEVER, some individuals have perpetuated misinformation regarding my version compared to his. First thing 10 bits precision is only really useful for low bitrate flat areas content IF you use a deband filter. Even being a noisy analog film, with lots of grains, with a high bitrare release such as his or mine, the benefits become minimal. It is also important to note that his encode has much less bitrate than mine: (1,8gb for the video track on ep 23 on mine vs 1,33, over 35% less bitrate, most episodes are around the same). RX also lightly degrained his release and episodes 19-23 unfortunately use bogus settings for the SMdegrain that resulted in some very visible ghosting and dither artifacts as seen in these SS: https://imgur.com/a/KPTGi1D Unfortunately all the old Screenshot comparisons I made in the past are gone, so I recommend anyone in doubt of what release to get, download a single episode and compare them side to side. 2D4U release is perfectly fine and high quality up to ep 18, but the DNR settings he used for episodes 19-23 are unfortunately broken and in need of a V2. I actually asked him for considering a V2 back in the day but he told me he decided to move on into new projects. I personally recommend fussoir in 720p or my future release if you don’t want grain because Eva’s Blu ray is very soft and has almost no resolution past 99% of the scenes than 720p and DNR kills some fine detail anyway. Only reason not to go with my release is if you want untouched colors or you don’t like grain. 2D4U also color corrected and is DNR. Fussoir is the best filtered release so far. Thanks for all.
